When to Pull the Plug on Affiliate Marketing

When your affiliate TOS looks like this it’s probably time to realize you have gone over the edge and are now in an adversarial relationship with your affiliates

Partner may not use the Example.com or Example names or trademarks, or any variation thereof, including, without limitation, names that are misspellings of the Example name, in metatags, in hidden text or source code, in e-mails or newsletters, in searchable keywords, in Partner’s ad copy, or in Partner’s domain or sub-domain or any other part of Partner’s URL
Partner may not engineer the Partner Site in a manner that pulls Internet traffic away from the Example.com Site

Digg Security Hole Promotes Story with 2 Votes

If you were lucky you managed to see a Digg security hole get exposed on September 12th

Below is a screen shot of the digg home page with 2 votes. The screen shot shows 5 but that because it was taken after a refresh

Now my first thought was it was one of the digg moderators pushing a story to the home page, however upon closer examination this wasn’t the case. Clicking through to the story revealed many other Digg users who were equally surprised at the two vote popular status. They rightly called it what it was spam, and proceeded to bury the story (which in this case was 100% justifiable).

 
What’s the lesson here, if you have an exploit, loop hole, or other trick that works, don’t squander it on a crappy story or use it in an obvious way that will get you caught and expose your methods. Use this […]

Google SERP for Wiki Jacking

Boy it sure is a good thing we have wikipedia around so Google can use it to provide relevant results like these, I mean it’s not like the wiki is given and algorithmic advantage and ranks for phrases it has no right ranking for or anything.
Although it is interesting taking note of the stemming of “jacking” to “jack” because the word “jacking” isn’t even on Jack Thompson Attorney page which is the preferred page in the clustered result
