Yahoo Mash Beta - New Social Networking Platform

Here’s a screen shot of my Yahoo mash beta account. By the time someone reads this there will be a LOT more “friends” listed.
More later as it’s late night on Friday and I need sleep. In the meantime, Techcrunch has a write up.

BIGLIST Search Marketing Blogs Update 091407

Not many additions this week, but we did do a bit of housecleaning. Fifty blogs were removed due to non-activity.
Also, our diligent maintainer of the BIGLIST was kind (too kind in my opinion) to note previously removed blogs which have now started posting regularly again. These are on probation but will be added back in for now. Otherwise, if you’ve been dropped, you’ll need to email us to be added back.   Welcome to the BIGLIST people!
New additions:

SEO Fast Start - Dan Thies’ place to build a network of like minded students of SEO with a handy e-book and an occasional rant on search engine conspiracy theories.
SEOptimise PPC & SEO Blog - Patrick Altof blogs his observations on the major search engines as well as topics related to search engine optimization, social media and PPC.

SEO Blogs added back in:

10 tips for effective reciprocal linking

Due to excessive exploitation of this tactic many webmasters, and even SEO consultants doubt the benefit of carrying out reciprocal linking campaigns. Reciprocal linking means exchanging links with slightly similar, complimenting websites for search engine optimisation. Search engines, especially Google, rank those websites higher that are linked to by various other websites. They assume that […]

Reader Poll: Can SES, SMX and Pubcon Coexist?

A lot has changed in the search marketing conference industry in the past year. The biggest news being the addition of Kevin Ryan to oversee Search Engine Watch and Search Engine Strategies along with the departure of Danny Sullivan from SES to start his own venture, Third Door Media and the Search Marketing Expo or SMX series of conferences.
Additional news includes the success of new conferences like MediaPost’s Search Insider Summit, programmed by David Berkowitz as well as the reduction in conference dates for Brett Tabke’s WebmasterWorld’s Pubcon down to one in Las Vegas. With the number of new and niche conferences popping up it begs the question as to whether the market demand can support so many events?

Note: There is a poll within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll.
Every time someone polls the audience at a SES conference, “How many people are new […]

Suggestions for Google Sitemaps

Hey Google sitemaps how about we clean up this menu to make it a little easier to understand

How about “pages with external links” and “pages with internal links”. You know this way the phrase is similar with just the condition changing. I can figure it out, but it eliminates one of those “don’t make me think” moments.
Also how about cleaning up the feed URL’s

http://www.wolf-howl.com/feed and http://www.wolf-howl.com/feed/ are really the same. Also the overall stats are waaaaaaay off, see New Feed Subscriber Stats & User Interface For Google Webmaster Central for a much more in depth explanation.
