On the marketing conference circuit, online reputation management is a hot topic now more then ever. Whether it’s search marketing, public relations or direct marketing, companies are trying to make sense of how to monitor and manage the brand impact of online conversations and their visibility in search results.
Last Thursday I did a national PRSA teleseminar with Kami Watson Huyse, “Reputation Management in a Google World” and tomorrow in Orlando, Florida the DMA’s ACCM conference is hosting: “Reputation Management: Protecting Your Brand in the Search Engines“, a session with myself and Rob Key of Converseon presenting. Moderater duties will be handled by Heather Lloyd Martin of SuccessWorks.
Rob will present on the importance of SERPs (search engine results pages) as shelf space and the need to impact underlying conversations. He’ll also share insights on conversation mining and engagement approaches.
I will be covering:

Numerous events are coming up quickly - enough to make your head spin. Here is a summary of our involvement with PRSA, DMA, PUSH, SIS, SES and SMX events over the next 30 days:
05/14/08 - MIMA: Duality Reality - Who Controls Social Media in the Enterprise?
The local interactive marketing association along with inspiration and motivation from Doug Pollei, there will be a very interesting panel of in-house Interactives discussing how large companies (General Mills, Best Buy, Target, Fingerhut and OptumHealth) are adopting and measuring social media programs. If you’re in the Twin Cities this week and involved with social marketing now or in the future, this is a MUST ATTEND event.

Jeremiah Owyang posted recently asking his readers what conferences they would be attending in the coming months and I thought that would be a great question for Online Marketing Blog readers as well.
Over the past 3 years we’ve become very much involved with conferences and even becoming the first blog to be an official media sponsor for SES. Our focus in the past has been with search marketing conferences but have expanded more into direct marketing, interactive and PR. We’ll continue that trend the rest of this year and focus on more conferences outside of search as the needs of our online marketing clients and agency continue to evolve and refine.
The conferences that I’m attending in the coming months include:

May: ACCM in Florida
Jun: PRSA Digital Impact in NYC
Jul: ad:tech in Chicago
Aug: Search Engine Strategies in San Jose
Sep: Blogworld Expo in Las Vegas
Oct: DMA08 in Vegas
Oct PRSA International Conference in Detroit
Nov: […]

With the changes last year in the search marketing conference industry there has been disappointing side-taking and rumor mongering but also a healthy dose of optimism about what more competition will do for attendees. I would think the sustainability and success of any conference is in large part dependent upon attendees needs being met. Whether your primary business is interactive marketing, public relations, advertising or SEM, online marketing and PR oriented conferences offer a variety of benefits.
Because of Online Marketing Blog readers’ varied marketing and PR related interests, this week’s Poll aims to identify the top motivations for readers to attend marketing industry conferences:
Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll.
Every company and each person has unique needs which may be met by a conference depending on the subject matter, timeliness of topics and current knowledge level […]
