One of the fun things we get to do on Online Marketing Blog is interview interesting people we meet and get to know by being involved with the industry. This interview is with Rebecca Lieb, Editorial Consultant to ClickZ and former Editor for the past 7 years. Shiny New Google Chrome

There’s already a ton of buzz on this but it’s potentially a big change for the web as John Battelle called it, “This Is Web OS, Make No Mistake“. Google’s release plans (in comic book form) for their new web browser were first posted by Phillip Lenssen with follow up by Google Blog and many others.
Outside of a better browser that is to run faster and more securely, the search engine marketing side of this story is that Microsoft’s new browser MISE 8 is to have functionality capable of blocking text ads, such as Google ads.
According to a story on Google Chrome and implications related to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer by AP:
“Google is worried that Microsoft could abuse its power by manipulating Internet Explorer’s default settings in a way that might diminish traffic to Google’s search engine, which serves as the hub of the largest online ad network.”
“In 2006, […]

Day One SES NY 2008 Summary and Photos

Yesterday proved to be an interesting kickoff to this year’s Search Engine Strategies conference here in New York. The Organic Listings panel was entertaining and informative as always and the Build Investment Interest in your SEO/SEM firm was an early indulgence for myself that offered great tips for those looking at the future liquidity and monetization for their agency.
Jolina weighed in with her posts on excellent sessions, Four Ways to Redfine the Customer and Three Tips for Successful Analytics. There was also a spontaneous goofball interview with Mike McDonald of WebProNews offering a few insights about the future of SES/SMX.
The day wound up with the Orion Panel on Vertical Search which didn’t leave Jolina with a warm fuzzy (to be expected as Kevin Ryan’s just not that kind of guy ) but it did offer interesting insights into vertical search - vertical content marketing as well as […]

SEO News Aggregators

With the TopRank BIGLIST at over 450 blogs, it can be a more than a challenge to read so many RSS feeds to stay current on SEM industry news. SEO blogs and news feed aggregators can make it much easier to track what’s going on whether its news, tips or events. This post highlights two services that have launched recently including Alltop from Guy Kawasaki and Social BlogRoll from Nick Wilsdon along with several others.
Alltop
Launched by Guy Kawasaki, Alltop is based on popurls and shows top stories for selected SEO blogs.
socialblogroll
Nick Wilsdon launched socialblogroll along the lines of a popurls style blog aggregator, but ranks them according to the number of links identified in blogrolls of the known SEO blogs. The more other SEO blogs link to a certain blog, the higher up it shows. Clever.
Sphinn
While Danny Sullivan’s Sphinn social SEO news community is different than the others […]

Next to Last Post from London

SES London 2008 has ended and I am now tasked with spend a few extra days in London to see a few sights and visit a few friends plus a fiesty 90 year old great uncle.
This SES has included a variety of firsts including my first time to London, first time speaking on two panels at a SES show, first time moderating a SES panel, first time doing a video interview with Adam Lasnik and the first time writing a blog post from a Blackberry.
I wouldn’t attempt such a feat of manual dexterity but I’m captive on a train for a while.
As with nearly all SES shows SES London was a nice mix of inspiring keynotes (even if Marckini was repackaging info some of us have been evangelizing the past year). informative sessions and excellent networking.
Jolina will be covering SMX West coming up and our next speaking/media sponsorship after that […]
